Most people think bitter cold weather is a miserable inconvenience, but for the elderly it can also be very dangerous. You may not realize it, but our seniors actually produce less body heat than we do. This leaves the elderly particularly vulnerable to cold temperatures. When there is a blast of cold weather, the sudden temperature drop can trigger hypothermia in an elderly person even if they do not venture outside - and hypothermia can even develop in their sleep.
